NEWFOUNDLAND Prints

Rich subjects for her etchings are fractured sea urchins and empty shark egg cases, referred to playfully by their respective colloquial names, whore's eggs and mermaid's purses. These urchins and egg cases are meticulously rendered by Fletcher, to the point that they become sensuous and erotic. However, as viewers linger with these etchings, the 'deadness' of the objects is undeniable, giving the works a duality and a tone of melancholy.
